Emma’s Revolution (Pat Humphries and Sandy O) will be at the UU Women’s Spring Retreat (May 13 – 16, 2016) and will give a special performance on Saturday night as well as a music workshop during the weekend. We will also have an excellent program of enlightening workshops, lectures featuring our keynote speaker, Rev. Sian Wiltshire and many opportunities to relax and enjoy the company of friends. Mid May is coming up quickly but there is still time to register for this wonderful event. And remember, you must be registered for the weekend to attend the concert and workshops.
Here’s what others have said about Emma’s Revolution:
“Fervent and heartfelt” ~The New York Times
Smart, funny and informative–like Rachel Maddow and Jon Stewart with guitars. Emma’s Revolution is the duo of award-winning activist musicians, Pat Humphries & Sandy O. Called “inspiring, gutsy and rockin’”, Emma’s Revolution’s songs have been sung for the Dalai Lama, praised by Pete Seeger and covered by Holly Near. The duo’s awards include Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and, for the two years in a row, the Washington Area Music Association’s Fan Favorite Award.
At Parliament of the World’s Religions
Emma’s Revolution were featured performers at the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Salt Lake City in Oct 2015. “The oldest, largest, and most inclusive gathering of people of all faiths and traditions”, the Parliament brought together 10,000 global and religious leaders, grassroots activists, and practitioners from 50 traditions–and more than 80 countries— to collaborate to achieve a more peaceful, just and sustainable world.
Emma’s Revolution performed to open the Saturday evening Plenary, which featured speeches by famed primatologist and conservationist Dr Jane Goodall, Nobel Laureate Mairead Maguire and Dr. Tariq Ramadan, among others.

In UU Community
Performing at Unitarian Universalist coffeehouses, convocations and congregations across the country, Emma’s Revolution is well known to UU audiences. Since their 2005 appearance with Pete Seeger at General Assembly in Fort Worth, the duo has performed at General Assemblies from Salt Lake City to Portland, OR.
Emma’s Revolution wrote “Love Reaches Out” for the 2014 Unitarian Universalist General Assembly theme and premiered the song at a featured performance at the gathering in Providence RI. Their songs, “Keep on Moving Forward”, “Swimming to the Other Side” and “Peace, Salaam, Shalom” are sung by UU congregations across the country and included in the “Earth and Spirit Songbook”, the UU Tapestry of Faith series and the new UU Spanish Hymnal.
Peace, Salaam, Shalom
Emma’s Revolution’s song, “Peace, Salaam, Shalom” has been chosen for the new hymnal of a worldwide denomination.
Out of the hymnal’s 600+ songs, Community of Christ has selected “Peace, Salaam, Shalom” to be taught to its 250,000 members worldwide and has created “Peace Through All People”, a stunningly beautiful and moving video of congregants and friends from Australia to Zambia singing “Peace, Salaam, Shalom”.
