Singing in the Pines

Sat, August 10 – Wed, August 14, 2019

Choir Camp Director, Scott Roewe

Guest Choir Director, Donald Milton, III

This year the choir will sing songs of concerns about the world, songs that inspire connection, and songs of joy. Singing together can connect our minds, hearts and spirits with those around us. It can bring stronger connection with our own strength and hope. There will also separate sessions focused on exploring the UU Hymnody of the past, present and future. So, let’s come sing together and make our mountain ring with joy!

As of May 31, 2019, Craig’s Cabin and all double bed rooms are sold out. There are still a few bunk beds available in Cabin 6 but they won’t last long! There are still lower bunk beds available in Cabins 5, 7, 8 1 and 3 so sign up NOW and come enjoy Summer Camp!

Choir Camp Director, Scott Roewe, began playing music around the time he could sit up straight, playing the bongos while his mother played piano. She also took him to Sunday School at the UU Church in Wilmington, Delaware, and now he works as music director at the UU Church in Santa Clarita. He brings his passion for music, people, and community to Singing in the Pines.

We are honored to have Donald Milton III as our Guest Choir Director this summer. He has been the Director of Music at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Atlanta since 2008. Donald attended our 2019 District Assembly in Long Beach. He challenged us to sing traditional hymns with an upcycled flair and the music was beautiful! At Choir Camp, Donald will help us explore the power of music and how it takes us deeper into our UU worship and our spiritual communities.

If you yearn to connect with others through music, if your heart is open to learning new music, if you want to commune with others for five days at camp, then come add your voice to “Singing in the Pines”. Enjoy morning keynote speaker, swimming, hike to the lake, dancing, R & R, good food and friends   and lots of singing!

Be prepared to want to go back to your church and share new ideas about music with your music community at home.

Registration is limited to 20 people. Open to all UU’s and friends who love to sing!
