Help Camp Honor
30 Years of Janet James’ Leadership
This GivingTuesday
One definition of the word “humanity” is “showing compassion, empathy, and kindness towards all people, treating others with dignity, and recognizing our interconnectedness.” This also happens to be a great description of Janet James, camp’s executive director for the past 30 years.
Janet has led Camp through amazing good times, nurturing thousands of bear cubs and their families, always offering a smile, an ear, and a hug. She has also led Camp through some difficult times — mountain fires, a pandemic, mud slides — just to name a few. She’s rallied volunteers to help support professional efforts to keep camp safe and has always pushed to improve the campus through each of these hard times.
The list of improvements that have been made under Janet’s leadership seems endless. And she’s got more planned for 2026. The Maintenance Cabin needs a new roof, the cabins need new dual pane insulated windows, dead trees need to be remove, additional down-mountain water flow mitigation is needed to protect structures and pathways. To Janet, there is always more that can be done to improve each person’s experience at Camp and to protect our sacred mountain top hope.
This GivingTuesday, let’s express our gratitude to Janet James by contributing to Camp’s annual fall campaign. Thanks to a generous donor, we have the opportunity to match $100,000. Imagine all the good Janet can do with your support. Our focus this GivingTuesday is to raise $20,000 to replace the roof on the Maintenance Garage/Cabin.
Won’t you share your love of Camp and acknowledge all of Janet’s hard work by making a financial gift to camp?
