Volunteer Work Weekend (CANCELED 11/19/2025)
Friday, November 21 to Sunday, November 23, 2025
Due to high chance of snow on Thursday and Friday and the potentially icy road conditions on Onyx Summit, 8000′, work camp is canceled for this weekend. Plans to reschedule in December to be announced.
Below is Ben’s weather report for Big Bear.
We’re so excited to announce an upcoming opportunity to volunteer over a WEEKEND. It’s a great time to give back to camp with a little hard work and good fun while enjoying fall in the mountains.
Camp needs able bodies and helping hands to get camp ready for winter! We need about 30 volunteers to do important work of fire clearance, which is the primary task this weekend, by raking and splitting wood. Winterizing camp by storing pool and amphitheater furniture and organizing the maintenance shop’s tools, nuts, and bolts. We also will be deep cleaning the interior of several cabins.
You may arrive as early as 11am on Friday, November 21st and bring a picnic lunch to enjoy. Camp will provide delicious meals after working up an appetite from your labor of love. The first served meal will be dinner.
It’s amazing how much we can accomplish together!
We have room for 30 energetic and generous, individuals, age 11 and older, who are willing to spend a little “sweat equity” at Camp. You’ll leave knowing your efforts are appreciated by the staff and will ensure that future campers have a safe and wonderful experience at Camp.
Wear enclosed shoes and old clothing. We also highly recommend bringing a pair of work gloves with you.
You don’t have to come for the whole time — If you need to leave early on Saturday afternoon that’s okay too. But if you can stay the whole weekend, think of what we can accomplish together! Just let us know in the registration form if you plan to leave early. This information will help us plan tasks and meals.
COVID UPDATE: Camp no longer requires proof of vaccination at check-in, and we do not require proof of a negative Covid test for weekend camps. If you are not feeling well, please stay home and get well and help to keep others safe. Thanks for understanding. Click here to review our most current policy.

Camp de Benneville Pines may sometimes need to make the difficult decision to cancel camp due to a variety of factors including but not limited to the following: severe weather conditions, road closures, Covid and other contagious outbreaks, camp volunteer and site staff shortages, and/or other emergencies. Should the camp have to cancel, refunds will be issued.
